Search Engine Optimization is one of the most talked about trend in placing your website on the top page of the search engine page results. It is pondered around the updates of the largest search engine that exists: Google. The recent updates of Google that are named after the animals, Google Panda, Hummingbird and Google Penguin update are three of the updates commonly known to SEO Specialists and carries a heavier weight in deciding to rank the massive amount of websites that exist. Though it was a few years back, the fact can’t be erased that changes that occur constantly affect how SEO Specialists ranked different website and continue doing test to examine how these new updates would affect the rankings of the website. Google Panda update

The Google first update was the Panda update; it was said to affect almost 11% of all results of the search engine. The main focus of this update was to bump websites that have low – quality content from the list of the search rankings. This update came out in February 2011 added some updates and revisions to impact the search engine rankings. Little by little, updates are added once a month. The Google Penguin update

The second major update was the Google Penguin update. This update only affected 3% of the sites according to Google though there is an argument about the percentage among the community of SEO. It was made available on the 12th day of April 2012, this follows Panda and updates are made monthly. The updates focus on a specific target like the “Top Heavy”. It points to penalized sites that have too many ads at the top of the first page. There are said to be 6 updates that modify the results and the updates gives an impact of 3 – 6% of the search engine results.

The Google Humming Bird update

This 3rd major update of Google and what SEO Specialists talk about is somewhat different from the others as per Google, it is a redesign of a system. It is like getting the core of it and putting in a wholly different and better one. It covers the same functions, but does it in a better way. This update does three things:

  1. The ability to examine and discern the extent the expertise and command that an article should be imposed a reward or penalty accordingly.
  2. Segregate high quality from low quality.
  3. Present context into or concept.
